Dirt Jump Park
Update Jan. 15/2012 - We have just me with the new Strathcona County committee charged with the development of the dirt jump park. They have purchased the design drawings from Hoots Park Development. From here the construction drawings go to tender. There are three companies we are hoping will give us tendered submissions. It is our hope that by the summer the park will be constructed. We are now meeting once per month now that we are getting down to the end of the construction. I will update again after the next meeting.
Update Oct 26th/2011 - Hello eager dirt jumpers! We've got a lot of dirt at the site now and Hoots is scheduled to begin construction in Spring 2012. The Strathcona County Bicycle Association is dilligently working within the confines of the Stratcona County Bylaws to try and get this park built asap. We Apologise for the delay and assure all of you that come Spring 2012, the park will begin to take shape as per the designs below. We all appreciate your patience and understanding in this matter. Have a good winter season!
Update Sept. 8/2011 - Starting mid October Jay Hoots and several of his work crew will be here to begin construction of the groundwork for our dirt jump park. Because of several permit application glitches, the park wont be completed until the Spring of 2012, but we will have the general layout and construction started this fall. We will have a map of the location when it is ready to be used and soon we will have an interactive map on the park. Check back next week.
Update Aug. 1 - Lots has been happening behind the scene. This long weekend more than 90 loads of clay were dumped onto our site. I would like to thank Rhonda Berg for her efforts securing the donations of clay, and Brandon Bishop for his time on site to make sure the clay was properly located. Our next step that we are working on is design and contractual agreement with Hoots to begin construction. We are doing our best to try and get the park construction completed this fall. We have planned to complete approx. 60% of the site with the remainding 40% contructed next year. If you have the ability to help with equipment, secure lumber for props etc, please contact myself at

Update June 1 - Last week we met with Strathcona County Administration and Jay Hoots of Hoots Bicycle Parks. As a committee we have chosen to step behind Hoots to construct the park. There are many aspects of a Bike Park that go beyond just the actual construction and design and Hoots has most of these issued already covered and experience in, far beyond any other group we had communicated with.
We are awaiting soil samples from the site location which will then allow Hoots to go forward with a design. For the time being we are needing to secure up to 2000 cubic yards of clay/sand mixture. If you have the ability to help with this please contact

, we need to start dropping at the site as soon as possible. Once we have an approved Park design then we can book Hoots for construction, the money has been allotted so it is a go but timing will also be up to Hoots availability. We are keeping our fingers crossed for construction over the summer! Stay tuned.
Update May 7th - We are underway with soliciting bids for construction of the dirt jump park. This is taking a little longer than we had hoped as it is on County land so there are quite a few hoops to jump through. We are hoping to be underway with construction early in the summer months, I will try to post updates when there is more substantial updates.
The Strathcona County Bicycle Association has been working diligently over the past year to make a Dirt Jump/Bike Park a reality. We are happy to announce that there has been a significant amount of money set aside from Strathcona County to help with construction, we have a permanent site in the works with a permit application in place as of Feb.10/2011. We hope to have the Bike Park open by June 1/2011 with a pump track, dirt jump area, and a skills area. The "test" run last year although short and on a small scale was a success thanks to the board members and volunteers of the SCBA and we thank all involved for that. Please check back for further updates and if you would like to help with construction ideas or volunteer feel free to email
